Plzeňský kraj (Pilsen Region) spreads across the south-west part of the Czech Republic. Its longest border is the one with the Federal Republic of Germany (Bavaria) in the south-west.
The first people came to the region and formed small settlements in the fertile lowlands of today’s Plzeň region in the Neolithic period, about 6,000 years ago.
