Where can you find the inscription “This Building Shall Collapse Without Water”, and who made cannonballs for Czech soldiers? Wandering around the industrial monuments of the Pilsen Region is exciting and will entertain not only dads and sons, because, for example, a trip on a steam locomotive will make happy everyone without exception.

Černouhelná Bašta

Coal mining at Černouhelná Bašta (Black-Coal Bastion) has a rich history. Nowadays, the local coal mining is presented by means of the educational trail “In the footsteps of mining activity in the Břasy region”, which, among other things, introduces the massive neighbouring quarry and the Kateřina natural monument.

Hracholusky Water Reserve

Over the years of its existence, the Hracholusky WR has become an integral part of the surrounding landscape and a pleasant place for recreation for most of the region’s inhabitants and very few people actually realise how crucial this waterworks has been for the operation of the surrounding villages and businesses.

The Bridge in Bělá nad Radbuzou

The most important monument of the small town of Bělá nad Radbuzou in the Upper Palatinate Forest is the former road bridge over the Radbuza River. Because of its importance and unusual appearance, this bridge is popular with many tourists and has even become part of the the town’s coat of arms.

The Bolevec Pond Dam

The Great Bolevec Pond, popularly called Bolevák, is today known not only to Pilseners as a place of recreation and bathing. It is the largest and oldest pond in the Bolevec Pond System, established in 1460, when the town of Pilsen bought the village of Bolevec.

The Museum of Pine Pitch Collecting

In the gamekeeper’s lodge in Lomany near Plasy, there is a museum dedicated to the extraction of pitch, which introduces the visitor to the tools and containers needed for the collecting, guides them through period photographs and other exhibits that remind the history of forestry in the region. The exhibition is complemented by hunting trophies.
