Rocking Stones near Žihle
The boulders are scattered in a picturesque wooded landscape in the Upper Střela Nature Park. There are dozens of large granite boulders scattered over a small area. The biggest ones, Bába (Old Woman) and Dědek (Old Gaffer), attract the most attention. They were formed by the weathering of rocks and geologists date their origin from the Mesozoic to Tertiary periods.
But local legends tell a more interesting story of the stones’ origin: the stones were allegedly brought by giants. The human-like creatures, over 3 metres tall, came all the way from the mythical Atlantis and assembled the boulders into patterns through which positive energy is supposed to flow, and performed magical rituals here.
