The Church of St. George in Luková
The Church of St. George is a dominant feature of the village and the surrounding picturesque landscape. The oldest part of the church – the presbytery and sacristy – dates back to the 14th century. It was destroyed during the Hussite wars and repaired in the 16th century. After a fire in 1796, it was repaired and rebuilt in 1854–1858 in a mixture of Neo-Romanesque and Gothic styles.
The tower was also rebuilt and given a slender and elegant roof. The presbytery was vaulted with a Gothic cross vault, the nave is flat-roofed, and the sacristy has a Gothic vault. The Baroque design has been preserved under the ruined Neo-Romanesque façade. The church furnishings are Neo-Romanesque. The three bells of Luková also had a sad fate, while the original two old bells were taken away by fire and the World War, too.
