The Přimda Kidnap
The question of why the castle was actually built is pondered by Dalimil in his Chronicle. It is based on the story of the young Count of Aldenburg, who lived at the Emperor’s court and who fell in love with the latter’s beautiful daughter. The Emperor, however, did not like the union, as he did not consider the Count noble enough. The Count sold his possessions to the Emperor and built a castle in an impenetrable woods, where he eventually kidnapped the Emperor’s daughter.
